Check Out Policies and Library Expectations


Elementary Checkout Policies
Patrons may check out the following number of items for a loan period of two weeks.  They may renew items for additional time if they would like. 

PreK: 2 items
K-1: 3 items
2-5: 5 items
Parents: 5 items

*Elementary students may check out one item at a time from the following categories: DVDs, Playaways, Graphic Novels (Comic Books)

Secondary Checkout Policies
Patrons may check out five items for a loan period of three weeks.  Items may be renewed for additional time when desired.

GSIS Libraries Policies
*We do not charge fines for overdue materials (only for damaged or lost materials).

*If students need to borrow extra books for a project, research, or for a class, they are able to do this in coordination with the librarian. 

*Patrons may borrow resources from either library based. 

*Extra books may be borrowed before school vacation periods.


LIBRARY EXPECTATIONS

Provide students with a place to work, study, and read

Use quiet voices that do not disturb others

  • Be productive and allow others to be productive

  • Keep study groups to four or less; please use tables

  • Use the area designated for large group study to avoid interrupting the work of others

  • Use study carrels for independent work only

    • Maintain an environment that is clean and orderly

    Dispose of trash, push in chairs, and leave unchecked resources on the cart or back in the proper location on the shelf (ES) or at the desk (SS)

  • Consume drinks only containers with lids

  • Enjoy all food items outside the library

    • Keep an accurate account of patrons and records

    Bring a PASS and sign in upon arrival from a class or study hall

  • Bring your Student ID card to check out items

    • Ensure access to resources

    Keep textbooks, library books, and devices in good condition for future use; notify librarian of repairs needed

  • Return library books, textbooks, and devices on time so others may benefit from their use

  • Pay for LOST and damaged materials
